Angela Franco Named President & CEO of the DC Chamber of Commerce
The DC Chamber of Commerce has named Angela Franco as its President and CEO. The Board voted unanimously in a special session after nine months of Franco serving as Interim President & CEO.
“Angela hit the ground running when she became interim President & CEO in July, sustaining the Chamber through a pandemic, civil unrest in the region, and at a time when businesses were hurting,” says Carolyn Rudd, Board Chair and President and CEO, CRP, Inc. “An experienced leader, Angela has demonstrated passion and vision to grow the DC Chamber of Commerce and has already set the Chamber in the right direction.”
Since joining the Chamber, Franco stabilized the organization and has been laser-focused on the
budget, re-forecasting based on the impact of the pandemic, reducing expenses, and reengineering the staffing structure for optimal program results.

Prior to joining the DC Chamber of Commerce as Interim President & CEO, Franco was the Senior Advisor for Business Development at the DC Health Benefit Exchange Authority (DCHBX) where she was responsible for collaborating with the Hispanic and business communities as well as local and Federal governments.

Following the company’s recent entry onto the NYSE, Perez joins Hims & Hers at a pivotal moment not only for the brand, but at an inflection point in the healthcare industry as the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the need for equitable access to healthcare and highlighted the value of telemedicine.
Perez is a proven leader at Nike, where she is currently Jordan Brand’s Global Vice President and General Manager of Women’s. Perez brings deep industry experience in scaling consumer businesses to her new position on the Hims & Hers Board of Directors. Over the last two decades, Perez has worked to drive deeper consumer connections and global growth for Nike, one of the world’s most influential consumer brands.

Dr. Rhonda Gonzales Appointed Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, University of Denver
Dr. Rhonda M. Gonzales has been appointed as dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CAHSS), University of Denver effective July 1, 2021. Dr. Gonzales will also be appointed as a full professor with tenure in DU’s Department of History. Dr. Gonzales’ area of research and teaching expertise is African history, specifically the history of East Africa and the Atlantic slave trade to Mexico.
“I am thrilled to join the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences as its next dean,” she says. “Joining DU to champion liberal and creative arts as the keystone of a 21st-century comprehensive education is an honor that I embrace with great enthusiasm and commitment.”
Dr. Gonzales is currently at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), where she serves as chair of the history department and professor of history. She has also served as interim dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at UTSA. Prior to serving as interim dean, Dr. Gonzales was instrumental in serving as UTSA’s interim vice president for student success and associate vice provost for strategic initiatives. In both roles, she envisioned and oversaw a series of initiatives related to student persistence and thriving. Most recently, she is co-principal investigator on a multi-million dollar grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. DU and CAHSS will greatly benefit from Dr. Gonzales’ expertise and insights in these critically important domains.
