World Travel: Aruba,The One Happy Island
By Lupita Colmenero
Want to experience Aruba (and Ariba)? Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino is synonymous with pure relaxation.
I don’t know about you, but my idea of vacations nowadays is to really enjoy myself doing the things I love, with the people I love and, of course, without a rush! Back in the days if you asked me, I would have said ‘Oh, I’ve visited almost every single European country, east and west, and it would have been true. With the only difference that driving from Paris to Belgium, to have dinner in Brussels, spend the night and keep driving to the next country on the list, would barely give you an impression of what Brussels or Belgium is about. That was our way of vacationing and we would end up feeling tired, confused, and disappointed for all the places we missed and the things we didn’t get a chance to experience.
No more! If you agree that vacation means relaxation, decompressing, a time to recharge, and learning about other cultures, then I have the perfect spot for you: The Palm Beach, Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino! What a piece of earthly paradise! As I mentioned, I have traveled a lot but I must say that my recent trip to Aruba left me with a very memorable experience, particularly because of the services I received at the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris.
They call Aruba the One Happy Island, and people make sure they show you that they are happy. I didn’t come across a single person at a restaurant, coffee shop, or store in the hotel or outside, that wouldn’t welcome me with a smile on their face. Servers at the hotel went even further by greeting me by my name every time I visited the bar (a couple of times…maybe more) or a restaurant. And, since employees were very easy to talk to, some of them even told me about their work experience and the opportunities they have available to keep escalating the ladder for success.
The bartender, for example, has a very interesting story. He started as part of the maintenance team and now he is an expert in mixology at the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino, and many of the delicious drinks we enjoyed were his very own creations (now you know why the bar was one of my favorite spots). One of the “must drink” cocktails is the Aruba Ariba, a delicious combination of rum vodka and several natural fruit juices and syrups, which makes this a super delicious drink.
The hotel has over 10 areas to eat and drink, and even though you may think seafood is the most obvious food, you can enjoy pretty much any food you desire along with the beautiful view of the Caribbean Sea blue waters.
I can’t forget to mention the spa, their beach pools, and the many other amenities the place offers for its preferred Tradewinds Club members, it is also something to experience.
And without a doubt, you should take the time and get acquainted with the One Happy Island, the local food and enjoy at least a few of the many attractions they have for tourists. It is very interesting to mention that people speak at least four languages: English, Dutch, Spanish, and Papiamento, the local tongue of the island.
A beautiful place to enjoy a romantic dinner is Pinchos restaurant, a casual but beautiful grill and bar on the pier, overlooking the crystal-clear blue waters of the Caribbean.
A place I recommend to visit for breakfast is Linda’s Dutch Pancake House, where you will find the most spectacular delicious Dutch pancakes the size of a personal pizza, served with a variety of different toppings of your choice and syrups. Really indescribable!
I also recommend visiting the Aruba Aloe Farm & Factory. You may know that aloe has 12 vitamins, 35 minerals, and 20 amino acids. A visit to the Aruba Aloe Farm & Factory will really help you appreciate the value of this beautiful plant.
And of course, be ready to jump behind the wheel and get as muddy as you can think of! Because that is what the on and off-roading UTV tour adventure through the island’s desert side will be. Bring your most comfortable disposable clothes so you can really dive into the experience without worrying about the mess, and just set your imagination and spirit free. Most importantly, enjoy the ride.
I really loved everything about Aruba, but what really took my breath away was our relaxing sunset dinner at Atardi, the resort’s restaurant on the beach. It was without a doubt one of the most memorable moments of my visit to Aruba. I am grateful to have experienced one of nature’s most beautiful scenes while in Aruba. Looking at the sunset take a deep into the ocean and embracing it with graceful spectacular sparks of colors allowing the day fused with the night was the best, to say the least.
Then getting back to the moment, with the delicious food, the music, and in the background the calming rhythms of the waves of the Caribbean Sea… Only in Aruba!
