United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC)
On March 20-22nd, the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) held its Legislative Summit in Washington D.C. to create a platform for ideas that the economy grows, businesses scale, and the country move forward to reestablish an economic vibrancy. The Summit welcomed the vast exploration of countless innovative opportunities through public policy, procurement, advocacy, and access to necessary technical assistance to build back better.

United States Hispanic Leadership Institute (USHLI)
On February 16-19, the 41st USHLI National Conference in Chicago, IL. Themed “Acelerando el progreso latino/Accelerating Latino Progress”the program placed the strength and power of Latino resiliency at the center of its conference. Over the last 41 years, the USHLI Conference has become the premier Hispanic leadership conference in the nation, attracting a complete cross-section of our leadership community and involving all ancestry groups. Over 6,500 present and future leaders representing 40 states will attend.
The Honorable Gaddi Vasquez, former Peace Corps director and UN Ambassador for Food and Agriculture during the President George H.W. Bush administration and now retired corporate executive received USHLI’s National Hispanic Hero Award.

Hispanic Serving Institutions Roundtable: Melody Gonzales, executive director of the White House Initiative for Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity for Hispanics led a roundtable discussion with primarily presidents and chancellors of Hispanic Serving Institutions in Illinois and Indiana.
Latino Leaders Roundtable: U.S. Census Bureau director Robert Santos briefed Latino elected officials and national leaders on Census changes and plans for the 2030 decennial Census. Addressing the Roundtable with Director Santos was Merary Rios-Vargas, Chief, Ethnicity and Ancestry Branch.
The Dr. Antonia C. Novello Humanitarian Medallion was presented to Nilda Morales Sandoval, president and CEO of SER de Puerto Rico and MG Jose Reyes, Adjutant General of the Puerto Rico National Guard for their distinguished service during hurricanes Maria and Fiona, and General Reyes presented Dr. Novello a medal on behalf of the governor of Puerto Rico.
